Last updated: December 3, 2019
Francis (name changed) is in his mid 50s. He is a truck driver. He earned bread by driving truck for a famous brewery – produces good quality beer in USA – since teenage. He forwarded me his boss’ email to all truck drivers, received couple of days back on my request.
“Dear all, as we know, our company is going through a very tough period. The management forced to execute employee mechanisms to reduce cost for production. This has become a dead threat to the company. To regain the momentum on the market, our management has decided to adopt best available technology in production and logistics.
Our industry is moving to autonomous trucks. It give advantages to our company. As the truck doesn’t require drivers, safety has proven and assured, it is considered to be as the hotfix for the turmoil the company going through. For the last couple of months, our technology team had tested and verified usability of autonomous trucks.
We are upgrading all our vehicle fleet autonomous within a quarter. I am very sorry to inform you that, we no longer require your service. Thank you for your time and hard work. We will remember all your contributions forever.
Thank you,
Bebetov V,
VP for logistics,
xxxx Brueries, USA.”
